Centura Reaches Out To Haiti Victims
Centura Student Council has approved the following activities to help with Haiti relief. First, a “Relief Bucket” will be placed at the gate of the Gibbon Boys and Girls Basketball Games for free will donations. Second, all milk proceeds from January 25 through February 5, will be given to Haiti relief. Third, a “pie in the face” exhibition by students towards teachers will take place at an upcoming pep rally with the date to be yet determined. This event will be sponsored by Centura FFA and FBLA. Money from these three events will be sent to an appropriate distribution outlet, such as the Red Cross. A supplies drive for clothes, blankets, food, water, counter medical supplies, etc. will also take place. Two FCCLA members will be spearheading this drive with the assistance from the elementary. The supplies will go to a local church for bundling and delivery.
This movement was decided by our Senior Student Council officers to help with the obvious need that the victims of Haiti incurred. While we suffer from tornadoes and floods in this region, we have not had the extreme devastation of such a plight. This contribution helps to raise our awareness of a need globally, and rise to assist in meeting that need.
