Centura to host Howard County Spelling Bee
Centura Elementary will be hosting The Howard County Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 20th. Competitors from St. Libory, Elba, St. Paul and Centura’s 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes will be attending, with the bee beginning at 9:00 am. Each school holds a spelling bee, the top two students from each grade are then awarded a trip to the Howard County Spelling Bee. Certificates will be given to each participant while the top three winners in each grade will receive a medal and the top three winners overall will be given a trophy for their efforts. The first place winner will also be awarded a $50 savings bond and represent Howard County at the Midwest Spelling Bee in Omaha at Creighton University on March 13th. ~Marissa Rincon
